| The Annual Legislator
Breakfast
The Annual Legislator Breakfast was held
Friday, Oct. 25th on our campus in Building 20 Faculty and
Professional Staff were able to meet with legislators in this
informal setting. The annual breakfasts were introduced several
years ago when Roberta Albano and Sandra Cutler became active
in the political arm SAC (Strategic Action Committee) of the
MCCC.
Senator Brian Lees, who has been a constant
attendee, remarked on how much he enjoyed these breakfasts
and noted how our breakfast attendance has grown since its
genesis. He also emphasized that it was important to stay
in touch with our political leaders. He stressed the importance
of phone calls from us, concerning our issues, whenever there
is a vote in the House or Senate
These breakfast get-togethers have allowed
our political leaders and our faculty/professional staff to
meet in an informal setting and exchange concerns and information
with each other. These meetings provide an opportunity, as
STCC faculty and professional staff, for the legislators to
put a "face" with a name. Our political leaders
have been sensitized to the fact that we are informed, voting
constituents who have decided to take an active role in the
politics of our state. We are no longer willing to sit back
and let "things just happen!"
Attending legislators included: Senator
Brian Lees, Representatives Dan Keenan, Ben Swan, and Chris
Asselin. Aides attending were from Representative Petrolati
and Representative Asselinís office. Also in attendance
was aide Michael Walsh from Senator Melconianís office.
Roberta Albano, Carole Dupont and Sandy
Cutler would like to thank all who took the time to attend
this breakfast.
